Ascend Above the Forests of Nagano along Stone Buddhas and Forest Paths.
Hiking Season: Mid May – Mid October
Mt. Iizuna sits just beside the Togakushi range, part of the five sacred peaks in northern Nagano. It’s a local favorite—peaceful, forest-covered, and rich with history. The trail winds beneath tall trees, passing 13 stone Buddhas quietly watching over the path.
Long ago, this mountain was a place of spiritual training. You can still feel that stillness in the air. On clear days, the summit opens up to views of the surrounding peaks, each part of the Hoku-shin range. It’s not a difficult hike, but it’s the kind that stays with you.
